How the WIXOR® TopSafe System Makes a Ladder Safer
Working at height is a daily reality for countless professionals: installers, facade workers, painters, roofers, and maintenance technicians. For them, it is essential to always choose the safest work solution. In many cases, a ladder is the tool of choice. The WIXOR® TopSafe ladder is a safe and well-designed option. Thanks to the patented TopSafe system, the ladder can be hooked onto the gutter or roof edge, significantly increasing stability.
Safety and Risks
The WIXOR® TopSafe ladder is specifically developed to make ladder use safer. When looking at ladder-related accidents, around 40% are due to incorrect positioning of the ladder. This can lead to slipping, tipping over, or sliding backward along the roof edge. The TopSafe system prevents these movements and ensures that the ladder remains stable against the roof edge.
Easy to Use
Using the WIXOR® TopSafe System is simple and effective. The user extends the ladder and positions it at the gutter at the height of the black rung. This ensures the ladder extends the prescribed one meter above the roof edge. While climbing the ladder, the user clicks the TopSafe System onto the gutter on both sides of the ladder. This is easily done by lifting the handle and positioning the system along the approximately 50 cm long rail at the desired height. Once the gutter hook is folded out and resting on top of the gutter, the handle is clicked back into place, and the ladder is secured at the correct height. The ladder is now safe to use.
When retracting the ladder, the TopSafe System does not need to be manually detached from the gutter. The system automatically folds in as soon as the ladder is slightly extended. After that, the ladder can be easily moved or collapsed again.
Applications
Thanks to its safety benefits, the WIXOR® TopSafe ladder is increasingly chosen by professionals such as roofers, painters, and installers. The ladder complies with both the European EN 131 standard and the Dutch NEN 2484 standard, making it suitable for professional use. This makes the WIXOR® TopSafe ladder a reliable and safe choice for anyone working with ladders.
WIXOR® – Safety within reach
More and more companies are choosing the safe solutions of WIXOR®
Working safely at height is a daily necessity in many sectors—from (prefab) construction and industry to transport and warehouse logistics. At the same time, there is increasing pressure to work faster, more efficiently, and with fewer risks. WIXOR®, a supplier of aluminum climbing equipment, offers a wide range of solutions for safe work at height. It has responded to the demand for a safe and intuitive work solution, designed to prevent misuse and reduce safety risks.
A choice for safety
More and more companies are opting for WIXOR®'s industrial platforms because WIXOR® offers practical safety. The work platforms are virtually impossible to misuse, and thanks to the spring-loaded wheel system, the platform ladder cannot move when the platform is under load. At the same time, the platform provides ample space to work comfortably and efficiently. Thanks to their lightweight design, the platforms are easy to move and place minimal load on the floor.
Intuitive to use
Using the WIXOR® industrial platform is simple, intuitive, and safety-focused. The user wheels the platform to the work area. Thanks to the optimized width, the platform fits easily through doorways. Once in position, the user climbs the large anti-slip steps. When the platform is loaded, it lowers and becomes immobile. Upon entering the platform, the safety gates close automatically.
While on the work platform, the user is securely enclosed by guardrails with toe boards on all sides. To move the platform, the user opens the inward-swinging gates, descends, and the platform automatically rises and becomes mobile again. These automatic functions offer speed, convenience, and maximum safety in a single solution.
Areas of application
WIXOR®'s industrial platforms are widely used across various sectors where safety is paramount. In finishing construction, they are used for installing cabling and air ducts. In prefab construction, the platforms provide the ideal working position for mounting and finishing wall elements or installation components. In rebar work, they are used to tie reinforcing steel at height.
Beyond construction, the platforms are popular in the transport sector, warehouse logistics, and the aviation and rail industries. The name “industrial platform” is well-deserved: the platform is designed for the demanding industrial sector and is ideally suited for heavy-duty professional use. This makes it a reliable solution for any sector where work at height is required, from installation technology to industry.

How to assemble a mobile scaffold with braces
A mobile scaffold is essential for many high-altitude tasks, both for construction professionals and DIY enthusiasts. The biggest advantage of a mobile scaffold is that you can move and set it up whenever and wherever you need it. Whether you're painting a facade, installing window frames, or cleaning gutters, a mobile scaffold allows you to work stably, safely, and ergonomically.
In this blog by Wixor, we will guide you step by step on how to safely assemble a mobile scaffold. We will first discuss the required scaffold components, then the correct assembly order, and conclude with useful tips and information on purchasing the right scaffold. This way, you can be sure that you're working safely.
What scaffold parts do you need?
Before you start assembling, it’s important to know which parts you need to build a scaffold. A complete mobile scaffold typically consists of the following components:
-
Frames – These are the vertical frames of the mobile scaffold. They form the base on which the rest of the scaffold rests.
-
Platforms – The surfaces you stand on while working. Platforms are available with or without a hatch for easy access to higher levels.
-
Horizontal Braces – These provide stability in width and are used as a guardrail.
-
Diagonal Braces – These reinforce the structure and add extra strength.
-
Stabilizers – These extend the base of the scaffold for added stability.
-
Toeboards – Prevent tools or materials from falling off the platform.
-
Scaffold Wheels – Swivel wheels with brakes that allow you to move the scaffold. Always secure the brakes properly.
Step-by-Step Guide to Assembling a Mobile Scaffold with braces
Assembling a mobile scaffold may seem simple, but safety is the top priority. Follow these steps carefully for correct and secure assembly. Make sure you have checked all required parts in advance.
Step 1: Check the surface
Ensure the groundsurface is leveled, firm, and free of obstacles. If working on soft ground, use special base plates for extra stability.
Step 2: Attach the scaffold wheels
Install the scaffold wheels onto the first two frames. Make sure all wheels are securely attached and leveled. Immediately engage the brakes once the wheels are installed.
Step 3: Assemble the first level
Attach the first assembly frames together using horizontal and diagonal braces. This forms the base of your scaffold. Then place the first platform (with a hatch) at the desired height.
Step 4: Secure the scaffold with braces
Mount diagonal braces in a cross pattern between the frames. Then attach the horizontal braces to the front and back. This is crucial for the stability of the mobile scaffold.
Step 5: Repeat steps 3 and 4
For assembling the higher levels, repeat steps 3 and 4. Use a new scaffold section for each level. Work systematically: first the frames, then the braces, then the platform. Always use a hatch platform for safe climbing within the scaffold.
Step 6: Install the Toe Boards
Once the highest work platform is in place, install the toeboards around it. These are mandatory according to safety regulations and prevent materials from falling.
Step 7: Attach the stabilizers
Secure the stabilizers diagonally from the bottom of the scaffold outward. This prevents tipping. The stabilizers should be attached at the four corners of the scaffold using wing nuts.
Step 8: Inspect the entire scaffold
Check all connections, braces, and wheels. Everything must be firmly secured. Also, ensure that the wheels are properly locked.
Step 9: Climb safely
Only climb the scaffold from the inside, using the hatches. Never climb the outside of the mobile scaffold.
Important Safety Tips
-
Always use a complete scaffold—never improvised solutions.
-
Wear safety shoes and work gloves.
-
Never use the mobile scaffold in strong winds or storms.
-
Never move the scaffold while someone is standing on it.
-
Work with two (or more) people.
At Wixor, we prioritize safety. All our mobile scaffolds comply with current regulations such as EN1004 and are TÜV-certified, making them suitable for professional use.

Wixor Acquires Smart Level Ladder
Smart Level Ladder
This year, Wixor has acquired the systems and ladders of Smart Level Ladder. As part of this acquisition, all products, patents have been transferred to Wixor. Smart Level Ladder's products will now be included in Wixor's range, while Smart Level Company will continue to operate as a representative and sales point for Wixor.
Smart Level Ladder: Innovations in Safety
Founded in 2008, Smart Level Ladder is known for its unique safety systems for ladders. The most well-known of these is the Smart Level System, which allows a ladder to be stabilized on an uneven surface by simply pressing two handles on the ladder rails, setting the ladder upright in one motion.
Additionally, Smart Level Ladder developed the TopSafe System, which allows the ladder to be securely attached to the gutter, preventing it from slipping away and significantly enhancing safety.
Future Plans
The integration of the Smart Level Ladders is a valuable addition to Wixor's product line, which focuses on quality and safety. From now on, the ladders will be marketed under the Wixor brand, and the product offering has been streamlined into three categories: professional ladders without additional safety systems, TopSafe ladders, and Smart Level Ladders with TopSafe.
The integration of the Smart Level Ladders will provide our customers with a broader range of safe and reliable products.
